Mastering the residential restoration
Rewards and award comes from Ainslie garden
Taking a garden in a new direction that takes its owner to a welcoming place of serenity is the cornerstone of what we do at Dimension Gardenscape.
To be recognised for our work at the 2017 Master Builders’ Awards in the best residential landscape design and construction category is a feather we will proudly stick in our cap.
This project at Ainslie is well worth a look. It emphasises the benefits of working from the design phase right through to the construction. We were also able to connect the right people in our network to get the job done.
The owner had spent more than a decade establishing his much-loved garden, but wanted to spend more time enjoying it without the need for ongoing maintenance.
The initial design by Dinah Meagher provided the template for us to work some magic into every corner of the garden. However, that meant making a very hard decision to bulldoze over much of the garden, while retaining the best bits such as the wonderfully matured trees that were a focal point for us to work around.
Know your limits
Another crucial aspect of this restoration was that the owner had tried many other options before approaching us. This is something we see all too often when someone tries other landscape companies or goes down the do-it-yourself path, only to find they spend so much of their own time going around in circles.
This owner knew his limits and knew when to call in the professionals. His decision was one that allowed him to stay in a place he loves rather than face the costly and stressful option of selling.
So when we talk about how to improve your property and your lifestyle as being the cornerstone of what we do, we mean it.
Colours, textures, features
The construction aspect led to the choice of colours, textures and features that this garden was ultimately awarded for.
We used a black Raven Granite paver to bring new and old elements together. This also perfectly complemented the house colour.
A Wee Jasper Basalt freestanding wall housed a recycled timber-floating seat that provides a focal point from the living room window. We also linked the dining room to a beautiful outdoor deck that is now the perfect place to sit back and take in the sunset.
A garden of unity
So much of this transformation was about connecting all areas of the garden together.
The use of established maple trees and hedges combine with sculptures and pots for interest. Yet the owner will always have the freedom to experiment with different plants to maintain the love for a space he created.
This result is a very peaceful, relatively low maintenance garden, but also a beautiful composition of native, productive and decorative plants that provide interest with different blossoms and foliage all year round.
To know is to grow
All aspects of the project were budgeted as part of the job and relied on a number of local businesses that we call on as part of our extended network. It is also a very important aspect of how we intend to grow at Dimension Gardenscape.
Yes, we always provide the best advice, but we also provide you with something you may not have thought of – something little that makes a big difference. That is all part of the package we provide, from design to construction, and ongoing maintenance too!
